How to choose a private school in Switzerland?

Swiss schools accept students from the age of six, some even earlier. From this point on, it makes sense to start thinking about your child's future. For example, if your child is to study at a Swiss university, they will need a different diploma than they would for studies in the USA.

The main school diplomas are

The good news is that practically all diplomas for universities around the world can be pursued in Swiss schools:
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • IGCSE (International Certificate of General Secondary Education)
  • Certificate of General Secondary Education (GCSE)
  • Certificate of maturity (Swiss Matura)
  • A-Level (certificate of general education at the advanced level)
  • National Diploma (Le Diplôme National du Brevet des Collèges)
  • Diploma of secondary education in the United States
  • French Baccalaureate
  • German Abitur
  • International Diploma of Advanced Employment (APID)
  • Diploma of the Advanced Placement program

Language

After the diploma, the language choice is the most important. Most boarding schools in Switzerland are multilingual, teaching in both English and the cantonal language. You can level up your language skills before the start of the school year with language courses.
Swissedu+ offers a wide range of language camps to choose from in English, German, French and Italian.

Cost

Another important question when choosing a school is the cost of education. If you're on a tight budget and live in Switzerland, it's better to choose a day school because it's cheaper. The Swiss boarding schools are considered to be the best in the world, but they cost just as much.

We will be happy to assist you in finding the best school option for your child and help you in the admissions process.
